I don’t like sports. The only reason I wrote about Tiger Woods over Thanksgiving weekend was because I thought this was funny:

The Orlando Sentinel reported that an orange and white barricade sat on top of a hole in front of Woods’ home. About 10 feet away, there was a tire track near an oak tree in his neighbor’s yard. The tree had a few scuff marks but was largely unscathed.

I’m always interested in news reports of oak trees, especially when a man named Woods is involved.

I like this drawing by Beeler. I don't know what mulligan means.

But this media interest, this intrusive, low-class waitress spewing crapola is so low class! As he said, it’s his personal business! I don’t care if he had an affair, or his wife got mad, and I don’t care if anyone else cares!  A big, meaty UGH.

Isn't this drawing by Cam Cardow strangely like the one by Beeler? Chec

But many cartoonists jumped right on it, using every pun and double entendre you could shake a golf club at.

Daryl Cagle has a lot more cartoons over at his place, but here are a few I had comments on.

Entertainment Scandalous cartoons!

What’s so bad about Fox News? I do think they report more about sad things like murders on our local Channel 11, and I don’t like our local news team much. But when Obama’s task force starts trying to exclude them from national media events & announcements, it does make the White House look a little “sensitive.” Man up over there.

Obama says no, Fox News

In this cartoon, I’m saying that they do put a negative spin on Obama (“bad info”) at times. :) But geez, everyone’s entitled to an opinion. And he hit them first! This time!

Balloon boy, go away.

what Barack Obama could learn from Balloon Boy

I didn’t see the story on Twitter. Half the trends there are people promoting themselves, or are crybaby stories, boring. I got more interested in the story when I saw the weird parents.

A giant Mylar balloon took off from the backyard of the Heenes’ northern Colorado home Thursday. The couple said they were terrified their 6-year-old son Falcon may have been on it. They couldn’t find him.

If it were determined that the incident was a hoax, “the only thing we have is them making a false report to authorities, which is a Class 3 misdemeanor,” Alderden said.

But, he said, authorities could seek to recoup the money spent. “If there is criminal conduct, we certainly would seek restitution,” he said.

Now it’s at the District Attorney to see about hoax charges, after the mother was the first to fold and admit the whole thing was a setup. (ewww, seeing the kid throw up on TV from the pressure!)

Of course, it’s the parents who are the most fascinating. What is in their heads? Is Richard Keene as crazy as the clips from Wife Swap show? They already made an action figure of Richard Heene, Balloon Boy’s dad!

Glenn Beck cartoon

It’s talk radio. Grow up and get over it. I love talk radio, although I don’t have much time to listen to it. My all time fave is the great Phil Hendrie! I like Adam Carolla in small doses, when he doesn’t get gross.

I’ve never heard Glenn Beck, so I don’t know his schtick, but I know censorship when I hear it. Phooey on this boycott.

I believe “r-a-c-i-s-t” is  used by minorities against whites 98% of the time. It’s my belief that that is the worst thing you can call someone in America today, other than murderer.

I don’t think that word should be used at all. But that being said,  I think we should even it out. More white people should call minorities r-a-c-i-s-t. Because why should it be a one way street?

Mark Sanford cartoon with TMZ
TMZ broke the big story of Michael Jackson's death, but why skim over Senator mark Sanford's affair? We'll let the Democrats dig up the dirt on this one. All rights reserved ©D.Barstow

I like reporting on the media. But how many mirrors does the world really need? I don’t care, I find it fascinating to reflect on what newspeople think is news, and how they report it.

If fate is right, that means eventually someone will report on me reporting on the media reporting on the news – perhaps one of those hate liberal blogs.

I remember watching the TMZ head honcho, Harvey Levin, back when he reported on the OJ trial. He was a good reporter/lawyer. I don’t know how or when he turned to sleaze and  getting crap about celebrities, but I guess he’s a staple on Hollywood news now. I never go to the blog – too much vulgarity -but I’ve seen the TV show in passing, which spends a lot of time on a goodlooking blond photographer, who I just found in passing, from this blog, is called Max Hodges.

Who is going to hell, Blagojevich or Madoff? I don’t know, I’m not Catholic.

Blagojevich cartoon and Madoff cartoon

But I have to admit, I have a soft spot, a very soft spot, for Mafia type people. Men with power, um, yum.

I was fascinated by Blago and the way he insinuated himself into the news, and even on talk shows. He was the master of his own domain! What chutzpah, to go out there and say, I’m innocent, because I say so. I told a friend of mine,  Blagojevich is like OJ Simpson, but smarter.
